The Sound Of MU(sic For Funerals)

Who wants a moment of silence if they could have 23 minutes of ambient house residual sludge instead?

Arriving this April 23rd is Music For Funerals and Bricklaying Ceremonies by Jimmy Cauty aka TowerBlock1 and The Peoples Pyramid Foghorn Orkestra.

Reminiscent of the ambient soundscapes recorded for The KLFs Chill Out album, MUSIC FOR FUNERALS AND BRICKLAYING CEREMONIES by Jimmy Cauty’s production outfit TowerBlock1 takes you on a 23 minute journey through all the sounds and music played during the bricklaying ceremonies that have taken place every year since 2018 to build THE PEOPLES PYRAMID.

As for what to expect from “ambient house residual sludge”, Jimmy gives the following description.

Chillout music is like a kind of sludge that blocks up the sonic airwaves. Music for Funerals and Bricklaying Ceremonies is strictly functional and should only be listened to at a funeral or bricklaying ceremony. It’s not for the casual ambient listener. The funeral music was thrown together as it arose to fill a sonic gap in the bricklaying ceremony … But some of the best things are created like that at the last minute, necessity being the mother of invention.

The release will be available in three different editions – the standard Peoples Pressing, a white 12″ vinyl, a limited edition of 223 copies including a 30×60 cm poster signed and numbered by Jimmy Cauty, The Voices of The Peoples Pyramid (Claire and Ru), and The Peoples Pyramid Bricklayer (Daisy), and an even more limited edition of 23 copies only including a full size 106×57 cm distressed poster numbered and signed by Jimmy only.

All three editions can be preordered from the L-13 website as usual. All profits fund the building of THE PEOPLES PYRAMID.
