The creative partnership of Bill Drummond (alias King Boy D, Time Boy) and Jimmy Cauty (alias Rockman Rock, Lord Rock), mainly appreciated for their ground breaking dance music from 1987-92, under the names \u2018The Justified Ancients of Mu Mu\u2019 (\u2018The JAMs\u2019), \u2018The Timelords\u2019, \u2018The Kopyright Liberation Front\u2019 (\u2018The KLF\u2019), \u2018The Forever Ancients Liberation Loophole\u2019 (\u2018The FALL\u2019), and post 1992 as \u2018The K Foundation\u2019, \u2018The One World Orchestra\u2019 and \u20182K\u2019. They have also produced other groups, including their sometime backing singers \u2018Disco 2000\u2019, and remixed tracks by Depeche Mode and The Pet Shop Boys. Cauty was also a founder member of \u2018The Orb\u2019 which he left, taking some tracks with him which were released under the name Space<\/a><\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n

After producing critically acclaimed work, utilising cheap sampling technology to its fullest, yet not selling many records (albeit interrupted by a freak novelty world-wide No. 1), they finally found fame in the emerging UK rave scene, and released a string of world-wide hit singles in the 90\u2019s, selling more singles than any other band in 1991.<\/p>\n

They have also branched out into other forms: they published two books (The Manual<\/strong><\/em><\/a> and 2023<\/strong><\/em><\/a>) and planned but never published at least two others and a graphic novel, filmed a motion picture (The White Room<\/strong><\/em><\/a>) which has yet to be shown, released an \u2018ambient video\u2019 and planned at least two art exhibitions but never staged them. They are also infamous for various anarchic situationist \u2018pranks\u2019 or \u2018happenings\u2019 which include billboard defacements, a crop circle hoax, a pagan midsummer\u2019s ritual (The Rites Of Mu<\/strong><\/em><\/a>), a BRIT Awards protest<\/strong><\/em><\/a> involving a dead sheep and buckets of blood, a string of strange full-page mainstream press adverts, staging an alternative art award<\/strong><\/em><\/a> for the worst artist of the year, and they also burned a MILLION POUNDS and subsequently toured the film of the burning round the U.K.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"template":"","faq_groups":[646],"class_list":["post-5148","faq","type-faq","status-publish","hentry","faq-group-general"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"\nWho are The KLF?
